How wide can I go on my 2016 HD LowRider S rear tire?

Hey, does anyone know how wide I can go on my stock 2016 HD LowRider S tire?

    Stock is currently 160/70B17 73V

    I want to go to a 190/55ZR17

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Rotero - First, welcome to the forums

I know some manufactures tires measure slightly differently (in width) based if you are going with a dumlop or Metzeler or . . ., so I think your best resonse would be to contact J&P's technical staff under the "customer service" button for this specific question.

    hope this helps.

The first tool out of the box should be the "book"  Geeked

Without changing your swingarm you wont have the clearance to run that size. Also Harley has set up your bike to run bias ply tires on front and back. I wouldnt run a radial tire on that bike. Why do you want to run a wider tire on the back? For looks?

Could I go with the 180? What bias ply tires would you recommend?

I want a little wider for traction, less slippage in rain and a smoother ride.
    Thanks

I am pretty sure with that particular bike a 160 tire is as large as you can go. With a wider tire than stock on the back you will get worse gas mileage due to the larger contact patch and cornering and steering will become difficult also. As for slippage in the rain the Dunlop American Elites are one of the best wet weather tires I have used. I also had no problem with Michelin Commander II's but I have heard about other people that have had problems in wet conditions with them.
