    Shovelhead oil pump.

Just finished rebuilding 76 shovel oil pump.  Turned it over many times without plugs and pressure light won't go out.  Shot some oil down pump discharge hose and oil came back out.  Pressure good before rebuild.  Appreciate any ides wht to do or check out.

    Re: Shovelhead oil pump.

First, nice to have ya here dun. You really have to start it to check for oil pressure. Run it at slow idle, and loosen one of the head cross-over lines or a rocker shaft cap, and see if oil is getting up there. The oil pump has a very specific inch pound torque. it is critical that you get that right...
