    1992 XLH 1200 - 2012 XRX1200 Cylinders Fitment

    Hello there,

Any idea if a pair of cylinders from 2012 XR 1200X would fit on a 1992 XLH 1200? Your input will be very much appreciated!

    Thank you!

if it were a regular 1200, i think it would work. but the XR has different head and base gaskets, with different pistons. even if it would bolt up, i think you would need to cc the heads to make sure the pistons don't hit.

found out a couple more things from our sportster guy here, the cooling fins are bigger on the XR cylinders, also there is evidently an extra oil passage in the head, so given that the head gasket is different, that also might give you some issues. the XR piston is a pop up, so the deck height may or may not be the same. so of you try it, check clearances very carefully.

Short answer is no. They redid that whole motor/crankcase/bike in 2004 so pretty much everything pre 2004 doesnt work. Steve is right were you would have to check clearances but really it isnt worth the trouble of even trying.

if it were a regular set of 2012 1200 cylinders, it would bolt up, cooling fins are different so it might look a little wierd, but it would work, however the XR used pop up pistons, and different heads. gaskets are different also

A better answer to the question would be buy Part #446-243. Bolt on 1250 cc kit from Revolution Perfromance that comes with new pistons, gaskets, wrist pins, and cylinders. No machine work needed and you can use your stock 1200 cc heads.

207-083 and 207-082 would also be excellent choices
