Re: FRAME TOTALED or NOT ???

I just had a fender bender with my 06 standard glide & it was totaled for the same thing, though the insurance company explained to me in detail & said its totally fixable.  Even the HD dealer said the same thing, hard to justify getting rid of the ol girl for some cosmetic damage!

an '06?  the cost of OE parts, shop rates and OE paint would make the repair more than the value of the bike.

buy it back at "the right price", turn the wrenches yourself and do a little customization (not necessarly look OE) - you may have yourself a ride that YOU know what has been done to it.

The first tool out of the box should be the "book"  Geeked

as i have experience as an insurance adjuster for harley's, i can tell you that if there is any frame damage at all, it is almost always totalled. the insurance co doesn't want to assume liability for a frame getting back out on the street that might fail. they also will almost always total a bike that has damage worth more than 60-70% of book value, so they don't get burned if there is a supplemental claim filed once the bike has been torn apart and repairs started and more damage is found
