    crank pulse generator

I have a 1986 VT1100 shadow that has three yellow wires under my seat that go to the crank pulse generator, they are very hot to the touch when bike is running, why is this, and what exactly does this part do, and can i eliminate it by disconnecting the three wires and taping off? I found them melted almost together and they have been there for about 3 years since i lost had my seat off.

    Re: crank pulse generator

    Phatt,

That is not a crank pulse generator it is a stator and is part of your charging system ,You may want to have a mechanic do a charging system diagnosis. Sounds like you could quite possibly have a faulty regulator/rectifier or other electrical component..

    Thanks for writing,
