TECH help Changing over to 16" Apes

     I need some help.

I have a 2008 FXSTC in stock condition.  I want to put 16" apes on it.  I know I need to change the throttle cables, clutch cable, and front brake line and get the wiring harness extension kit for the switches.  What I am having trouble with is figuring out lengths for all that.  Could I get some help with PN's for all this.  I would really appreciate any and all help!!  Thanks in Advance..

I am wanting to put on PN 500-272  16" Apes with a 39" width and a 11" pullback  Stainless braided cables as well.

I changed just the opposite of what you are doing, but figuring out lengths is the same. I went from 18" wild one apes to 14"pull back wild one 518 bars. Get the Bars you want then mount it on your bike then get a tape measure and measure each cable from end to end. the you will know the lengths your need for each. any other way is just a Guess.

You really need to measure to determine the length cables you need, then we can order them for you once you give us the measurements. Bmilza wrote a good article on how to measure. It can be found by clicking this link. Cables. The Exhaust part number is 441-937 , Fuelpak part number is 402-795

Thanks for the advice guys.. I appreciate it.  I will do that.  I am working in South Korea and I get a lil impatient waiting for the bars to show up and then taking the measurements and then ordering...and then waiting..if ya catch my drift. Not to mention winter is coming quick!!!

I understand what you mean, the problem is that you may like your apes to be straight up in the air, and I may like mine to match the angle of my forks. So we will both have two different measurements depending the position of the bars. The cables if they are more than 8" over will need to be special ordered and once we order those they cannot be returned because they are made to order. So we need to make sure we get you the right cable the first time especially since you are in South Korea with the delivery time. Let us know when you get the bars and the measurements.
