    2008 XL1200C Horsepower

Hopefully this isn't too silly of a question, i'm a bit new at this and the only way I know to learn is to ask. I have a 2008 XL 1200C. It has V&H short shots with fuel pak and a Harley Heavy Breather performance air cleaner kit. I was interested in ways to increase horsepower.  I realize it could be expensive but would like to know the options. Thanks in advance for any information.  Also thanks to J&P for providing these forums and the people who take their time to answer questions, it's a great way for a newby like myself to learn.

    Thanks again.

    Hmmm. Pleanty of options here.

Here is an outline of somthing I set up for a performance seminar. This will give a guideline of things you can do.

    Logical performance plan

    I)    Tune what’s there

    1.       Jetting and me, how hard is it?

This  allows you to get the most from Your combination.

    II)                  Let it breathe

    1.       Air filters (you have done this)

    2.        Exhaust  (you have done this)

    3.        Aftermarket carbs (the next step?)

    4.       Cams/head work  (the next way to improve things)

    III)                Ignition upgrades

    1.       Single fire vs Dual fire

    2.       Dual Plugs (not reqired for an Evo sporty)

IV)                there is no replacement for displacement

    Hot set up kits

We actually give this seminar every year here at J&P. 3 of the last 4 years I have given it. Last year I did not do it because of my feet. We have what is called a "Winter Workshop" series of seminars regularly throughout the winter/early spring. There may be some Video on some earlier editions that we may be able to post. Let me get with our videographer and see what he has to say.
