    is it the carb?

I have adjusted, purchased & replaced all cables, handgrip on my 2005 Fatboy. My throttle will not return to idle no tension.  When I tune the throttle open there is slack in the retun cable. I can't adjust it out, the throttle gets harder to turn. have taken extra care to install cables on carb, makng sure the spring is in plac,,and grip. Still there is no tension to return to idle. It is as though the screw under grip  is screwed in. I took it out.

    Moose,

Loosen the two screws on the throttle grip housing. If the throttle works ok, then it is binding inside. Take it apart, and find out why.

Be sure to use some graphite powder / grease in the assembly to insure good barrel rotation with the cables and handle bars.

You could (?) undo the cables from the carb and pull the cables idiviually one at a time. that will also tell you if there is binding in the upper end or not. If they move the grip easily both ways then it would in the carb end. If the grip still drags then its in the upper end. Mine was doing the same thing, and as FX suggested, it was the grip binding.
