    05 road king custom/hickup???

     i can crank it up and let it idle for a while and get good and wormed up and then ride and even then it may hickup through the carb.when i say hickup ,thats the best way ican describe it or maybe a burp.it runs strong and all and when it does do it its mostly when i up trottle.i bought the bike at 15000 miles and ive put 5000 in the past 4weeks.it dont seem to get any worse.its just got me curios as to what it may be.i can pull out the choke a little and that seems to help alot.thanks for any in put.carefule out their!joe

    ps it has a carb and no work has been done on engine.

     sounds like a typical lean condition for carb. bikes. go to nightrider.com and it will give you some good ,simple ,inexpensive ways to richen the mixture. these kiehnen carbs are easy to work on and respond nicely to minor tuning adjustments.

     The intermediate jet needs to to go up one size, not the main jet. Sometimes enriching the accelerator pump will help, especially if it only happens when you are opening the throttle. If it does it at a steady speed ~40mph or so, it would be the intermediate jet.

    Rejetting sounds like your solution, alhough you may also have an intake leak. Pull the spark plugs and if one is black and one is white, thats the problem. If both are white, time to rejet.
