    Breeze,

Be prepared for a big mess a spagetti (wireing) when you take the faring off. Best to rewire it all to under the gas tank.

    Re: 1980 FLT

Get a headlight nacelle from an early Roadking.  It will bolt right onto your triple tree.  The nacelle is large enough to accomodate all your wiring needs.  I customized an 80 FLT and used a lot of Roadking parts to make it all work.  At the time everyone said it could not be done, but virtually everything off the roadking will bolt right on to the FLT.

Good luck.  Post some pics when you get it done.

    Re: 1980 FLT nacelle

Thanks for the info. I am still working on this project, as time allows I was furnished part # 230-277542.99 Road King headlight assy., but have yet to find it. I will keep looking.

    Thanks again, John

P.S. I saw an 80 FLT on e-bay, it was/had the setup that I was looking for but the seller could not give me any info.

    John-

I built up an 80 FLT for a local guy, I used a Road King Nacelle also, really cleaned up the front end..

Except for the FLT gas tank..

Where the neck lock goes on Road King nacelles,  I put the Ignition swtich.. Looked like it came that way..

It's a simple deal.. I'm sure you will like it..

     breeze,

Part # 24-0286 will work on your 80 FLT. This unit replaces the fairing. You can leave the dash in the stock location. The kit comes with headlight housing, H-4 headlight assembly, and upper fork covers. This will save you from doing alot of customizing and removal of the dash.
