    Battery for Vulcan 2000

Does J&P carry a battery for my bike, a 2005 Vulcan 2000 that will not keep losing power with every cranking? I have replaced the battery twice since August '08 and it still won't turn the starter over fast enough to crank my bike without a jump start. I had my charging system checked out by an out of town Kawasaki dealer and they said it was fine but had the wrong battery in it. I waited till I got back home to buy a battery and the local Kawasaki dealer sold me the same size and brand of battery that was in it (August '08) and have already had to swap that battery out for another one just like it. I feel like I'm getting yanked around by my short and curly's by Kawasaki. The battery that was in it when I bought it used....ETX-14 with 200 CCA. The battery that Kawasaki keeps selling me and I have replaced twice is the same thing...ETX-14 with 200 CCA. My service manual calls for a YTX-16-BS but Kawasaki says that the battery they sold me has replaced that one. Why would one place tell me the battery was the wrong size and another place sell me the exact same battery that was in it. The ETX-14's are the freedom gel battery. Is the gel battery just a piece of junk? I feel like I'm being yanked around by my short and curlys by Kawasaki. What battery would you suggest?

I know nothing about Kawasaki's or batteries for that matter and don't want to make an obvious suggestion, but being from "The Land of Guy" I know that depending on how things are going the obvious tends to esape me at times.

Have you called someplace like Batteries Plus? The are pretty focused on the battery biz and have cross referenced things for me ranging from cell phones to forklifts. Might be worth a call?

Thanks cornbread. I just got off the phone with Batteries Plus, there is a local one about 20 minutes from me and the guy agreed with me that the battery I have is to small for my bike. They have one with 230 CCA for $80 plus exchange. Think I'll take a ride. Thanks again, later.

Not a problem; hope it all works out.
