    OIL LEAKS FROM TOP

Yet another problem just got a new master cyl for the rear & now I have oil that leaks from the top where the cap is . I have tried 2 caps & still the same problem

also I did cleaner out the air cleaner no oil there so I don"t know what to try next.

I know it is not leaking from the bottom or sides or from the air cleaner the oil just rolls down from the cap & the oil level is mid way on the stick.

Maybe I have 2 bad Oil Caps????

Thanks ( as soon as I get one problem fixed I have another problem & this is a 06 with only 8,000 miles on it)

    THANKS

    Scott

I had the same problem with a 2000 Chief....I replaced the fluid and was not able to stop the master from leaking until I applied a thin coat of gasket maker...

    Scott

I presume you are having a problem with your engine oil, not the rear master cylinder (not really clear from your first statement).

If it is the oil, when are you checking the level - after it has sit for a bit or within a few minutes of running it for at least 5 minutes?  Reason I ask, a lot of these girls have a check valve in the oil pump that occasionally allows oil to leak into the crankcase after it has sit for a bit (making it look like the oil level is low or ok), so I always check my '77 after it has been running for a bit.

    Hope this helps

When workin' on your ride the first tool out of the box should be the manual

Thanks I fixed it the problem was at the top of the oil cover there is another cover that guids the dip stick in. Mine was bent which let oil out each time I hit a bump.

After 23 miles of freeway riding the side of my bike was coverd with oil the lt side tire ,Rim,chain Gard, swingarm. & I am doing 80-MPH not even knowing
