    big nut

     hi guys. does anyone know off-hand what size socket it takes for

    that big 'left-hand' threaded nut thats on the primary side is???

    its on a 74 shovel. any help would be greatly appreciated

     well if i had it apart,  i would. i just know i dont have that size socket, and was wanting

    to get it ordered from "snap-on" and have it on hand so when i got ready to

    tear down the motor i would have it

     thank you very much smitty.thats exactly what im looking for.pretty pricey though.

    probably as much as SNAP-ON.  once again i really appreciate the info.

    If its the tranny shaft nut, I went to the pawn shop and bought the size socket I needed for about three dollars, I cut the socket in half and welded a peice of 1 1/4 pipe about 5 inches long back inbetween the two peices and had a socket that would work for next to nothing.

     If you have a Tractor Supply store nearby, they sell big sockets cheap, also harbor freight.  I would cut one of theirs down and make the tool that grndpndr described out of a cheap socket too cause after all, you probably wont need it many times.
