Hi was wondering i have evo softail with a BDL open primary and i started to notice a few drops of oil coming from bottom of the clutch basket.My question is there must be an oil seal on the shaft the clutch is on which i assume is coming from the transmission.If so is it a big job to replace?Thx

It might be leaking from the clutch actuating rod which comes out through a seal in the clutch basket nut.  The slides sideways through that seal and it wears out much faster than the trans seal.  You need to remove the clutch spring pack to take a look - not difficult.  Check the BDL website - they have their instruction sheets on line.  Might need to order a new nut if the seal is not removeable.  Re-adjust the clutch when you put it back together.

 Just was wondering if its a dry clutch were would the oil be coming?doesnt look like gear oil.I dont really understand were it would be coming

if yu really want to know there is a trans oil out there , not sure of the brand, my local independent bike shop sells it, that has a color in it, red im thinking. he sells motor,primary, and trans oil in 3 different colors. when i asked him wtf he said if a customer calls me saying his bike is pukeing sumpin, i just ask him what color and i know what kind of job i got comeing in.yu might try looking for sum of that.or yu can clean the bike up really with a pressure washer then when dry spray the suspect areas with spray starch after its dry. the leak will be pretty evident if yu look close.

 You either have a tranny main seal leak or the rod that pushes the clutch in has a seal leak, the clucth rod could also be worn. I would replace the clutch rod seal first, u just losen the nut and replace seal in the adjust nut.

 Thx for the info well i will take it apart and see whats leaking hope  its not the tranny main seal !

Jammer, the oil would be coming from inside the transmission.  The mainshaft is hollow like a tube - oil enters it on the right side of the bike under the trans end cover where your trans dipstick is.  It works its way through the mainshaft and can leak out the clutch rod seal.  Good Luck.

 I'd be very careful about using a pressure washer on a bike.. That can force water in places that you never wanted it to be..

 Thx for all the help!IT turned out it was the mainshaft nut with seal.Replaced and all is good!
