    Carb Pops

I have A 1969 FLH with a S&S model B carb. It runs great on the highway but pops in the city traffic. Which do you think would be better performance wise. Changing to maybe A model E carb with an accelerator pump or putting an accelerator pump kit on my model B. Thanks Rob

    Rob,

Definately, step up to the Super E, P# 401-067.

Is there such a thing as an accelerator pump kit for a Super B?  I have a 80" Shovel and it does the same thing. Saving the cash for a new carb is proving to be difficult.

yes, V-Twin made a thing called an Accelo bowl. This bowl will add a Bendix accelerator pump to an S&S Super B carb. There are 2 different versions, 1 for the early single cable body, and 1 for the later 2 cable body. There is a drilling fixture required to modify the carb body. Even though I have seen these and worked on a couple, I don't know that I would recomend this conversion. It is not made by S&S, it's an aftermarket part for an aftermarket part (if you understand what I mean). If you are truely interested, I will give PN's, but am reluctant to do so.....

If you are thinking about changing carbs think about going to a stock CV carb off one of the newer H-D's that used them. Lots of folks are changing out the carbs to the CV and believe it or not they run great on shovels. Minor work is needed to tune them to the shovel. Go to ShovelheadUS.com and search the carb section for more info. Lots of places have "take off" CVs that you can pick up cheap

    Re: Carb Pops

Thanks for all the good info. I tried the c.v. carb once and it just didnt work out well, even with retuning. I beleive it gave the bike rejection issues. Also I want to keep the clean look of the stock concealed single throattle cable. Probablly going with S&S  E,  Anyone wanna buy A used S&S  B ?  Thanks again, ROB

Rob - I have an E so I don't need a B, but I am supprised no one else has asked the question - How much $ for the B?

When workin' on your ride the first tool out of the box should be the manual

The B will most likely end up on the spare parts shelf but if I keep the intake manifold my guess is its worth about $150.00.  What year is your bike and how does it run with the E carb ?
