    Digital Speedometer

I am looking to up date my speedo and tach. The problem is I have a '92 Yamaha Virago, and the speedo is mechanically driven. I was wondering if the Milwaukee Twins™ Digital Speedometer and Tach PN: 5700063, came with a sending unit to adapted or if it only could be used with factory electronic speedo sending units.

You should be able to hook this up and calibrate it per the instructions. http://www.jpcycles.com/instructions/new/5700063.pdf You may want to have the service manual for the wiring diagram of the bike to make sure you get the wires correct.

The wiring is not a problem, I just am not sure if the speedometer will work with a mechanical sending unit instead od an electrical one. Nowhere in the instructions does it mention how to hook up a mechanical sending unit nor does it refer to needing an adaptor to work with one.

Will it work with a mechanical sending unit?

It has no hook up for a mechanical. You will need to wire this into the machine.

How do you wire an electronic speedo into a bike with a mechanical sending unit? Do they make an adaptor or an addon sending unit that will work?

woops.. My bad. Sorry I didn't include that in the prev post. You can use an add on sending unit such as P# 381-732.

    Re: Digital Speedometer

Oops, more problems. I purchased the adapter you indicated above. The problem is the fitment. The adapter appears to be designed to fit Harleys, not universally useable, with the suppied parts. My connection on the speedo cable is smaller, is there an equivilent adapter for meteric bikes that I can swap this one for, or some way of adapting the connection to work with the smaller cable end without having to fabricate a completely custon cable?
