should have the sending unit mounted on the right side of engine looking forward. looks like the sending unit in your car. you could also have a pinched or frayed wire causing the ground.

Roadside check to make sure you are still getting oil through the engine:  Remove the cap from the oil bag, start engine, ensure high volume of oil is returning to the tank - no oil shut it down quick.

Check the wiring diagram in your shop manual - I think the electric flow is from your accessory circuit to the light to the switch (which is grounded).  Test to ensure the oil pressure switch is good:  connect a test lead to the + side of the battery and another one to the pressure switch, put test light between the test leads (light should be on) - start bike.  If light stayes on, pressure switch or oil pump is bad - if test light goes out, chances are you have a pinched wire (as sleep suggested).

    Hope this helps

yes, it does - the switch is default on and oil pressure turns it off

Not a problem - there is no such thing as a stupid question (unless it is exactly the same one that was posted 2 days ago Zip it! ).  The only thing that is stupid is stupid mistakes because you didn't ask the stupid question (asking the stupid questions is how we all learn)

Just got thinking about the way I phrased my response - I made it sound like your question was a "stupid one"  - it wasn't - Ooops I hope no one else takes my response that way

The only dumb questions are the ones not asked.
