Got a little free time these days.....

Hey fella's, I'm looking for some suggestions for some tech artices to add to our website. It's been a couple years since some of my articles where written, and I'm looking for some things you guys (and girls) want some more information on. Answer this post with any ideas you may have and I'll see what I can come up with.

don't tell them you have "free" time - they won't want to pay you  Zip it!

Based on the type of questions that are always being asked here, maybe:

    electrical troubleshooting 101

rejetting basics (or readin' your plugs)

When workin' on your ride the first tool out of the box should be the manual

     Hey Xea,

Must be good working at Jp, first steve has holidays, then you have free time  .......not bad !!!

    It's a hard life...but you can't weaken !  haha.............

seriously though, I think from memory over the years the most talked about topics (apart from opinions on oil etc ) would be lean & rich tuning, whether or not to remap/ rejet if pipes are changed, vibrations, electrical gremlins, & starter hassels.  Pretty hard to work out articles relating to these topic but, because they are so broard in their applications.

Maybe the way to go would be to presume the reader is a complte novice on repairs & run some articles on things as basic as servicing your bike with attention to the obvious things that the book presumes you know ( such as drain plug locations, tapered plugs not to overtighten etc.

Maybe an article on little time & effort saving tips & things to look out for ????

    ..........................Mick

I also am a member of a Jeep Tech Form and one of the best features it has is the ability for the members to post pictures when they have specific questions about their ride.  It also allows other members to look back through the threads and find solutions that may relate to their own specific situations and the old pics that may be attached always help.  It would be nice to be able to have a similar feature here...they can help to remove some of the guessing or misunderstanding.  Even just including pics to the tech articles is a good start.

This article does not go into ride height but it helps to explain rake and trail.  Triple Trees and Frame Geometry

    Scott,

There is an icon on your message toolbar to insert images when you post.  It looks like a picture of a tree.  The search bar in the upper right hand corner of the Community pages can be helpful in finding posts and tech articles pertaining to the info you're looking for.  There is also a "Find Answers" search bar under the Customer Service tab.  Of course, you are always welcome to ask questions if you don't find what you're looking for.

Ok fella's. I have 2 more articles "in the can" so to speak. One about checking 70-99 Big Twin charging systems and one regarding installing a 12V generator on a pre '57 motor along with testing generator output. They have been submitted to VCDrums for approval and once Drummerboy gets around to it, they will appear. Once again, I ask for subject suggestions. Let me know what you want to read about.

(Kiki, I have not forgotten you)

    Xea

based on a comment in another thread, I have a couple of more suggestions (both of them seem to take up a lot of forum space)

1 - Dos, Don'ts and Tips when storing your ride for an extended period (i.e. winter)

2 - Dos, Don'ts and Tips when taking your ride out after being stored for an extended period (i.e. spring)

When workin' on your ride the first tool out of the box should be the manual
