    RevTech Oil vs ?

I have a 2007 883 Sportster with 14,000 mi on it. I  have been running the HD Syn 20w50 oil in it since about 3000 mi. Reciently it has started to seep out in several places, but the front rocker Assy is the worst (probably no more than a drop or two per ride, but requires constant clean up). I switched back to the regular oil a few weeks back and the seeping stopped after a couple hundred miles.

My question is is RevTech Pure really as good as they advertise, or is Belray, or another petrolem based oil better?? I have a good mechanical background and can change the Rocker Assy gaskets, but I have been told that all the synthetic oils will seep. I'd rather change oil more often and not being tearing down the bike replacing gaskets.

Even using the synthetic oil have have changed the oil every 2500 mi

    Please advise

    Thanks

    Herb

Personally I wouldn't use the HD syn. I run Mobile1 V-twin 20-50 in my bikes and never have a weep problem. Changing oil every 3k. I don't run engine oil in my trans and primary. I am a firm believer in the lubricating ability of syn to coat the moving parts and reduce engine temps.

http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/how_to/4213451.html Looks like oil has changed in the past few years. I still wouldn't mix them though.

Your choice. I ran a Chevy Truck 200,000 miles on syn blend. 120# comp, no oil leaks, no deposits, no consumption. But then it was a chevy. nuff said

Agree with Sleep........Total BS...........Oils, for many years now, have been industry standard...............Synthetic or petroleum base...........Use what ya like.......I like syn, it runs cooler, and doesn't sludge up like petroleum based.........................They will mix............I've used synthetic in my Shovel for 4 years, great results, no problems

Sleep What is the difference between HD syn and Moblile 1?? I've used both and have not noticed any difference Except I can go down the street to atuo zone and buy the Mobile 1, as for the HD syn I would have to drive 45 miles. I also with both Syn oils never had a oil weep problem, my 79 Shovel yes, shovels always weep oil.

Sub, The HD syn is produced by Citgo. owned by Hugo Chavez (Venezuela). HD subbed to lowest bidder that would bottle the oil only under the HD name. Citgo products have never been top of the line. I agree, Mobile I can buy almost anywhere at home or traveling.

In the search box, type synthetic oil. This has been hashed over in the past and a lot of material is there.

thanks Sleep, That would explain why most of genuine Harley parts and accessories are made in China or taiwan.
