Forward control exstenion kit P/N 540-058

Can anyone tell me if I am going to need anything special for the Hardbody Fwd. Cont. kit P/N 540-058 for my 99 Nighttrain? Also I was curious to know how the quality of the chrome plating is. Are there any complaints about this kit in general. Thanks for your help.

You will have everything included in the kit for installation. Its fairly simple and we recommend purchasing some thread locking compound like part number 900-297. We have not had any negative product reviews from this particular product and have sold several sets of the Hardbody forward controls.

I just received my controls and Im looking at them and Im trying to figure out how to use them with the stock brake config. On the controls it  has a tab for the brake res. and the plunger arm is on the top where the stock plunger is on the bottom. Also the litriture that came in the box is a different parts list than what I actually got. Can you tell me what I might need to do to get these controls to work. Im very happy with they way they look. The construction chrome everything about them are nice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I looked at another HB part number 540-026 and see that I need a few other parts. Can you give me some part numbers of what I'll need to convert this from stock. If I need a master cylinder brake line or anything else could you list it for me please. I can handle the install just  not sure about the parts. I was assuming that this was gonna be like switching them out with the stock parts. Im just looking forward to being able to extend my legs!! Thanks again.

    Bob,

I apologize for this inconvenience.  I had the kit pulled and it appears that you are going to need a 2400460 master cylinder, 241-206 plunger, and a brake line to complete the installation.  We will need you to measure for the correct length brake line.

Thanks Speedking, Hey I looked at the part #'s you listed and I just wanted to double check with you before I ordered the parts but, the part number you listed was for these bikes-

     Harley-Davidson®

    1982 - 1984 4-Speed Sportster® Electric Start XLH

    1982 - 1985 4-Speed Sportster® Roadster® XLS

    1983 - 1984 XR-1000

    1983 - 1985 4-Speed 1000cc Ironhead XLX

    1985 XLH1000

    1986 - 1987 Heritage Softail® FLST

    1986 - 1987 Hugger® XLH883

    1986 - 1987 XLH1100

    1987 Heritage Softail® Classic FLSTC

And my bike is the 99 Night Train no offense I just wanted to check again before I ordered and one more question....The kit comes with a plunger is that one not going to work with this master cylinder? I appreciate your help and when I get the controls installed I'll measure for the brake line. Thanks again. Bob

Re: Forward control exstenion kit P/N 540-058

Hey Speedking, I was looking at my bike and saw that the brake line goes from the master cylinder to the plunger to the  brake light switch but, it goes into a block at the switch and then goes to the caliper from there. So my next question is can I use the stock switch or is that block part of the brake line?Do I need a different switch for my rear light? So should I take the measurment for the brake line from the cylinder to the caliper or just to where the switch is mounted? Sorry if these are dumb questions. I want to do it right. Thanks Bob
