    Power Commander

I have a 2004 Ultra Classic 95" kit w/S&S 510 cams, the Screamin Eagle air cleaner, Vance & Hines slash cut slip on's and here is the question: I had the H-D Race Tuner installed and set up on the dyno at my local H-D dealer, it runs "ok" but I dont feel that the tech who set up the race tuner knew what he was doing and I would like to install a PCIII, would the PCIII work properly with my race tuner setup ? Next question if the PCIII does work with the race tuner what PCIII map do I need,a map for Stage one ECU or Stage two ECU ?

The PC III acts as a chip replacer. You hook it up into the ECM circuit. If you would remove the PC III, the ECM defaults to your present setup. PC III gives you a lot more fuel/air tuning capabilities than race tuner down loads from HD. For more info or addressing questions www.ultraboy.us and you can enter PC III in the search box, check the tech pages here.  You might also want to look at Thunder Max.

The Race Tuner (SERT) re-programs the ECM that is already on your bike.  The PC-III is an additional box that modifies the signal coming from your bike's ECM.  The problem you would have is this:  the SERT has altered your stock program, so the PC-III would be altering an already altered signal.  The PC-III programs work with specific stock ECM programs - stock, Stage 1, Stage 2, etc.

To use the Power Commander, you'll have to undo the custom SERT program from your dyno run.  Next, get the the ECM flashed back to a stock set-up (or Stage 1 if they did that when you got the 95" installed), just as if the SERT was never installed. Now you can install the PC-III and try an existing PC-III program that closely matches your combination of parts.

A competent dyno tuner (SERT or PC-III) may still your best bet since your combination of components may not exactly match any of the Power Commander maps.

Good anwser pbabadoo. You would not necessarily have to remove the SERT for the PCIII to work but you would have to modify the corrections further than where the SERT is set which would require dyno tuning and custom mapping. None of the PCIII default maps would come close. And it would be pointless.

The thing about the SERT from my expierience is that about 1 out of 5 Harley Mechanics actually know how to properly tune a SERT. And it usually requires a several dyno runs in order to get it tuned accurately.
