Don't worry the twin cam was just a thought. The '48 ground up, ain't gonna be stock either. Just thought the twin cam&5 speed, may have been cheaper. Sry but I was kinda "FISHIN" if you know what i mean. The frame I ordered was 0 degree stretch,30 degree rake, hardtail, rear belt drive, takes the '48 pan and a 5-speed tranny. I need to sell a fresh set of '48 plumber style heads, new valves,seats and guides,problem is the bozo that pressed in the guides chipped the cast out beyond my mig, tig or stick weld skills, hell my lathe and mill skills don't even help me. Please take them before I turn them into ashtrays.

if you could it at half of that it might be worth the money. A '99 motor and tranny for $4933+. You'd be damn stupid to pay that(pardon my south)

nuklhd, sry to be so long to reply. It's a long story behind this basket case. I've had it almost 20 years. It was chopped, with split cases and 80" wheels when I bought it. The cases wern't milled for the 80 inchers. So I've sold the frame, the 80" wheels the 4 speed tranny was parted as well as few more things. Since this is a ground up project and I set a budget for it the 1999 Chrome & Black Twin Valve seemed to be a cheaper project at the time. The '48 now connsist of a clear title, cases, cylinders bored to matched pistons & rings (.030), an 18" rear wheel with tread, brake and sprocket. 12" over adjusta glide front end with 21" tire and a paughco frame should be here mid OCT. 14 weeks on the frame. And yea I know,pans dont fit evo's don't fit knuck's dont fit flat heads Ironheads etc. etc. I just saw it as a cheaper alterintive to the '48 project as a whole. From ground up.

HD sent everyone with a 99 twincam a five year extended warrenty on the rear cam bearing,I'm not sure if that covered other damaged parts in the event of bearing failure.Mine was changed out right away anyway with the new cam and big boar kit.MW

stallingrunt,was the cheaper alternative trying to put that motor in place of a pan motor? whats doing with the 48. please don't be sacriligous(splng)lol. if you have a 48 frame and the orig.springer sell it to me and it will be treated with the respect it so greatly deserves.lol. no kidding give us the details on the project as there are some here that dig old iron.

Hmmm, knew I smelt somethin fishy here. I mean why else would a large dealer have kept that thing for so long? Man it looks sweet though as well as mint. For the moment it just looked like a cheaper alternative to my current 48 pan bobber project. thanks all

yes, also the very first ones had a bad cam profile, the rear exhaust lobe would snap the tappet off

Maybe someone else can confirm this, but didn't the first year Twin Cams have issues with cam bearings? I could be way off the mark on this one..

i don't think you can get a frame from the moco, without turning in the frame that went with the motor. they want the old frame, so there is no duplication of seriel numbers.

the dyna drive train requires a special frame to accept the rubber mount setup. not much available, see 700-020, 700-019, 700-017

What you have there is a first-year Twin Cam 88 A. I recall that there is an aftermarket softail frame that will hold a non-balanced twinkie Let me see if I can find it here...

1999 Chrome & Black Twin Valve

Not an Evo expert by any means. The motor in question comes off a '99 Dyna. Its brand new. Never run. Comes with a new 5-speed. My questions are at $4933.26, for the motor and tranny, is this a good buy ? And with this rubber mounted system are there hard or soft tail frames available to install it on? Without going to a Dyna style frame. Or searching the frame section, I shoulda been asleep an hour ago, another 12 hour day tomorrow. Thanks all.....
