Progressive spring package for '69 shovel

My fork tubes are 2 inches over on my '69 shovel. Do I need a spacer 2 inches longer than the 3.5" specified in the directions? The current front ends has 2 inch spacers to account for the 2 inch longer tubes. Thanks.

Gidday , I am at the wiring stage with my complete re build of early 80's FXWG , i got a main wiring harness from j&p and have a 78-84 service manual with wiring diagram 80-85 in the back , in the diagram it shows most wires go to a big multi connection , what is this ? does j&p have these?

I have A 1969 FLH with a S&S model B carb. It runs great on the highway but pops in the city traffic. Which do you think would be better performance wise. Changing to maybe A model E carb with an accelerator pump or putting an accelerator pump kit on my model B. Thanks Rob

77 flh carb backfire

So is a 77 vintage? What does that make me? Don't answer that!!! My FLH backfires (frontfires?) out the carburetor at constant throttle, cruising speed, acceleration is good. Valves adjusted (solids) 1Kmi on new valve job, new plugs, wires, coil, points, condenser, counterweights, timing adjusted, new carb kit...I'm thinking that old original Klingon Carburetor has finally just worn out, but before I cough up the cash for a new S&S, I was wondering, did I miss anything?

Pogo Stick and T-bars

Just got a new seat that fits the original pogo stick and t-bar for my 1983 FHLS. The problem is that the spring is so weak that I bottom it out when sitting and go metal to metal on the frame. Central Texas Harley Davidson installed everything but just isn't right. I was going to purchase a new spring from a coil shop to replace but just found it strange that the spring would be so weak. Yes, I my weight is 220, not that bad for being 6'2"!

Am I missing something with all of this or is this normal?

trans oil seal replacement, 4-speed kicker.

i am going to replace the out put shaft seal. the parts i need to order are--#6300320,--main drive seal kit.----#6200290---clutch hub,washer,seal..is there anything i'm missing, any special advice on what to do, look for..and or what not to do

oil was leaking real bad when i started..78/shovel---don't know if the tranny and motor where a mached set.

Before I joined the marines I bought another bike to work on but never had time to work on it. Its a 1976 Harley FXE liberty edition, the guy I bought it from had it sitting in his garage for 15 years, the bike was mint, no scratches dents or anything. The chrome was all original and polishes up like the day it rolled out of the factory. The only thing wrong was the starter was messed up. He said it engaged one time when he was riding and burnt out the starter solenoid. I tried replacing it but it was still no good. I barely make it home on leave and would like to make the most of my leave, the bikes in New York and I'm in San Deigo any advice? And what work would you recommend to do before trying to get the bike running?

Hi all , i am fixin a shovel about 81 vintage and don't no what the half inch threaded hole in the back of the crankcase is for , it;s just below the right rear engine mount next to the oil pump . Is it crankvent that runs to air cleaner ?

my 66 shovelhead, i got a new tranny from j&p , a: c.c.i 4 speed (not my first choice , but $$$ choice)

anyway. my old trans would start 2nd or 3rd kick without fail!, this guy i need viagra to keep tryn!n o matter what it will not turn over or spark, not a flinch.

i also have a starter as well and that kicks it over,

any ideas.

I have found the base gaskets but cant seem to find the james head and rocker box gaskets.

Do you sell these gaskets individually?

Filler rod for crackcase welding repair? Shovelhead '76

We are restoring an old FLH 1200 from 1976. There are quite a few cracks in the crankcase, which we wanna repair. In order to get it spot on, we would like to use the right filler rod which fit the alloy of the crankcase. But we haven't been able to find specification on which alloy were used on the 76 shovelhead crankcase.

Is there anybody who knows the alloy specification for the crankcase?

I am rebuilding this bike, and wondered if it was reallt necessary to return all the wiring back into the headlight. Wouldn't connections under the split tanks work better? Headlight connections are a pain in the butt.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy this style of military tail light? I waited a bit too long and they are out of stock in Ziggy's now & I can't seem to find it in 45 Depot either. I believe it is the type of tail light they use for the WLC ELC military motorcycles. I have seen the other style military tail lights that are WLA & the smaller style WLC lights available, but I was hoping to get this style with the large lights. I don't need authentic, & I would settle for something that looks similiar to this style with the large lights.

Hi everyone...

I'm considering a Thunderheader 2-into-1 Exhaust for my 96" Shovelhead and I'd appreciate any firsthand knowledge of the product. Based on my research I'm confident it's a good product, but I'm really interested in issues anyone might have had with the install. I'm a bit concerned about how well the pipes will fit on the heads, considering the height of the motor and the fact that the pipes are one piece.

Alright guys.... I've got a 76 FLH with a 81 Keihin carb. I run true duals with straight fishtails. The carb has a .72 slow jet and a 170 main. It also has a "high performance intake venturi", and the intake manifold has been sealed using part # 4000200 (rubberbands instead of o-rings). It runs pretty good at intermediate and high throttle except for a miss that will not seem to go away. The real problem seems to be at low throttle. The rear plug fouls after the motor is hot, it back fires and misses when going downhill. According to the plugs it is running rich. I now own almost every jet available for this carb, have had it cleaned and tested and tuned and tested and tuned. The only thing I have not done yet is to buy a Super E. Please... any suggestions are more than welcome.
