getting road chips out of drive belt on a road trip

What would be a good tool to have during a road trip to pick out chip and seal rock out from the drive belt in the middle of the Desert? This happened to some one I know in Idaho. He told me he could not get a new belt so he picked the chips out one at a time with his knife. any Ideas??

If you are going to be riding in the desert, I'd assume you'll have some kind of tool kit. You should be able to use something in there in a pinch. I personally have never had that particular problem so I can't tell you the best thing to use.

Yes Jd, I have many tools to pick from which i have packed on the bike at all times. I was just wondering if anyone that has incountered this problem on the road . I have no problems using my knife, plyers, screw dirver, a stick on the side of the road, barb wire fencing, yea what ever ya can find. This must of happened to someone else. A Feash seal & chipped road or HWY must be a nasty experience when the chips get stuck in your Rear Drive belt.

Might grab ya couple of dental picks. My dentist seems to usually has one or two that he is willing to get rid of. They are pretty good for pulling seals and o-rings too......pndr

    Dude,,,,,, belts are for babys..

Real bikers run chain...............LOL (just kidding)

I have heard stories like this too many times. After an engine swap, I went to chain and have been happier ever since.

The first time a few of my friends broke belts doing burnouts, we laughed and they went to chains.

The best thing you can do is run a lower belt guard if your in love with belts.

    Nowhereman.....who else?
