Yea, a Covered 8ft long uhaul trailer, that's what i used to get my bike from San Deigo to northern CA, 12 hrs each way. Plus you can lock the covered trailers. I did use www.forwardair.com to transport a bike from Ca to the east coast. I built the crate, straped it down, then took it to the terminal in Sacramento, CA (state Capital).
