I bought a custom 2000 road king and it has a Arlen Ness L E D tail light and license plate holder combination and i can"t figure out how to get it apart to change the plate. It's not just me that feels dumb, I've asked several of my buddies and they don't have a clue either. Any ideas?

Not knowing which license plate assembly you have, I would say there are screws on the back of the plate frame, usually 4, one in each corner.
