    timing question

Now my timing mark i did with a little red paint i went a little past the mark to the left of it so i can see it come into the window.I can see the red paint coming into the window but not the 40 Deg mark and my advance plate has about 1/8 left and it is fully turned.Cams are new there lined up on the money i made sure of that.I first did the static set up where i held the points cam at full advance and i set it right before they just start to open

    75,

Are you locking the throttle at 2,000 rpm when timing with the light?

    75,

You have some after market parts (cams, and whatever else). I wouldn't be too concerned where the backing plate is, as long as it is in time........Points should be set at 18 to .020.
