    Forward Controls

I have a '07 xl883 sportster w/mid controls.  I am considering installing forward contols.  I have never rode anything with forward controls.  What are the pros & cons on this conversion?

    Re: Forward Controls

I had forward controls on my '77 but the roads are so bumpy up here (gotta stand up some times over bumps) that I went back to mid controls and added a highway bar w/pegs.  This also gives me an additional foot location when traveling distances.

When workin' on your ride the first tool out of the box should be the manual

I like my forward foot controls, but I had to get mini-apes in order to be comfortable (the drag bars just did not give me a comfortable ride with my forward foot controls).  With these, I feel like I'm reclining.  If you don't like the forward foot controls, you can get an engine guard and install highway pegs, so you can still put your feet up when you want.

I ride an 09 Nightster and I absolutely wouldnt go back to mid controls.  Ride is more comfortable.  You can be as agressive as you want. But I'd let an expert install them unless you're handy.  One other thing...my stock pegs fit just right...your's should too.

    Re: Forward Controls

I’m 6foot tall. So the mid controls would give me a cramp on long rides. For some it may feel like you don't have the same amount of control as you did with mids. But the comfort factor will soon dispel that. Like was said before, you will never go back to the mid controls. The only thing more comfortable are floor boards.
