  • Re: Best replacements for handlebar switches/chrome for 1979 Sportster XLH?

    Okay, not bad. However, I'm willing to "not" keep it completely "stock" and I was wondering if a control set - like below - would work. Has anybody out there replace the switches with something like these? Chrome Handlebar Controls with Switches J&P Part: 500-443

    The question that I need to ask you, Ironhead, is, "Did you use a stock HD button set or did you use an aftermarket set?" The reason I'm asking is to make sure that I nail a working set for the bike and avoid wasting the time and restocking fee of getting a switch set that won't fit...

  • '79 Ironhead Sportster Oil Question

    Does anyone know what the old labeling of HD's 105 Grade "Regular Heavy" oil equate to in current SAE standards? Is there any better high heat oil than this form a "Sporty" with "ALOT" of miles on it? Also best recommendation for Oil Filter? Was going to go with a K&N...

  • High accelration popping

    OK I'm back again. Got the bike on the road for some test. After re-adjusting the clutch so I could go around the block. I found I have a high accelration poppin. It's not rhymic, it's irregular. I only get to second gear before it starts. I've got the orginal spark plug wires and coil...
