    End the Clunk

So after all this time, I cant take the clunk in my Dyna Wide Glide triple trees any longer. I have adjusted, re-adjusted, increased the torque, and just about everything else I have seen in the forums here short of taking it to my local dealer. Does J&P sell the parts and tools and parts needed to install new bearings and races in the neck? Its a 2002.

Parts, yes...... Tools, no. We offer the bearings and races. To remove the races after the front end is remove takes a BFH (BIG FRIGGEN HAMMER) and a punch. A bearing driver is recomended to reinstall the race.

How heavy a grease are you using in the neeck. There is a grease that is almost like paste that works well.

    Re: End the Clunk

Harley dealer told me to use H-D special purose grease #99857-97 for the steering head bearings. Well I did ,That grease is so thin that it is a continueuos mess. when i cruise in the nice sunny day or park it in the heat of the day the head bearing H-D grease drips out like oil. What a Mess, everywhere, always wiping spatered liquidfied grease from forks, gas tank, engine crash bar, foot pegs, ect. ther are other greases that would work better.

Put an extra ounce of fork oil in each fork leg.

    Go on... try it.

I haven't completely torn the internals of the neck apart, so i dont know what grease is in there. What kind is best to use?

Harley makes a "special purpose" grease as stated above but a good thick water-proof bearing grease from any auto parts store will work just the same.

I've used a good 'high temp disc brake grease'  ...works well on neck and wheel bearings.
