A check ball in a 2003 Twinkie Ultra?

I'm running the Progressive 440's on my FLHT and can't say enough GOOD things about those shocks. What a difference they made compared to the stock air-preloads. Harley_125 is spot-on with his recommendations. The 701-627 would serve you well.

whiteangel, You did'nt mention what color you were after, but the Screamin Eagle Phat 10mm wires come in orange, red, and black. That's what I use on my twinkie. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448771675&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302292267&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302292267&bmUID=1248799914092&bmLocale=en_US

I believe the '02 FLHT's had a 6.2" trail. Man, the thought of a 2" trail scares the #e!! out of me.

sodbuster, Progressive has the installation instructions published on their Web site: http://www.progressivesuspension.com/pdfs/updates/3081-003%20Inst%20Touring%20Link.pdf

What mwelych said about the ME880s, I can say about the Elite 3s. I've tried both and prefer the Dunlop Elite 3 for wet traction and stability over road surface irregularities. I like the handeling characteristics better too. The wear is good on both, but I'm consistantly getting over 13,000 miles out of the Dunlops with a good portion of that milage riding two-up. You won't go wrong with either tire.

I've done the same as Steve with the same results. I've recently changed to Lucas 85w-140 and I belive I like it a little better than the Bel Ray.
-
I installed a pair on my '99 FLHT. It was the best money that I have spent on the bike so far. You won't regret installing the 440's.

Try the Dunlop Elite 3... you won't be sorry. I'm on my third set, getting over 13,000 miles per rear. Better handling, better wet traction, and no wandering over rain grooves.

That is correct. You do not have to have air shocks on the back. The air is used for preload only. I installed the 440's on my '99 FLHT and Steve Franta is correct in calling them the Caddilac of shocks. You will not believe the improved ride over the factory air shocks. Also, the preload adjustment is very easy and can be adjusted without tools. I feel like the heavy-duty 440's are better for the baggers than the standard ones.
