  • Drive train noise on a '95FXDL.............%&^$#@$#

I have already checked the 'search' feature and didn't find anything relevant so here goes. When I accelerate through the gears normally say between 1200 and 2000 rpm's I can feel a 'grinding' noise coming from the drive train.....if I pull the clutch in it stops....at 2500 rpm's you don't feel it. I've checked the primary chain, I replaced the double-bearing inside the clutch hub, checked the main shaft for play but it had none, evrything seemed to be tight but

Glad to hear it Dan! Sure feels good when you figure out what or where the problem came from...(unless it's in the motor!) IronH.....The vibration was there prior to changing the tire and handlebars. The bars are the same height... just went with T-bars instead of risers (one-piece bars). I didn't put the bike on the jack Saturday.....too busy riding!!! I haven't checked the tranny bolts yet but will do this week.....Maybe I'll just have to live with it until: 1) it gets worse or

Muff...Just replaced my rear tire yesterday and the front was done 2 months back......Tried replacing the plug wires...no change! The vibration really transfers through the handlebars big time......mirrors shake, windshield shakes, but only between 1500-1800 + or - rpm's. driving me nuts Did the Fisher Fluid compensating sprocket work for you?....I already have the M6!

Ironhead...I do have neoprene dampers installed but I just changed handlebars....maybe I need to re-new? Muff.....If i am in first, second, or third gear and I am accelerating or deacceIerating I feel the vibration through the range I mentioned. If I pull the clutch in while in the range the vibration stops! Thanks for the replies guys! Somehow I will fix this problem

Steve...Even when I upshift from first to second or second to third ...I get the vibration! Or if I am cruising in second gear in traffic...I get the vibration! Hi FX.....long time no hear! The bike idles well and it runs as well as it always did! It's just at the lower range. I have about 40K miles on the motor and the last time I checked the compression difference between front and rear was about 5-10 psi.....Maybe I'll just have to switch to a.........(hate to say it cause I know how you
