Ok. It was not the carb after all. The valve timing was off after rebuild. Different year parts, like flywheel and so on. I took it to the rebuilder and had him figure it out. He burned out my coil and now I need to replace that. I had a crane ignition and he installed points after he burned out my coil. I hope it did not hurt the ignition as well. At least I know that I was doing everything right and according to the book. It was driving me crazy. It was not the jets or the float. Runs fine with

  • S&S Carb spouting gas

I have an E shorty carb on a 1000 cc 1984 sportster. I just had the engine rebuilt and changed to Milwaukee Twins #450-1841-3/4" OD dual slash-cut mufflers from originals with the cross over. • Re: 84 ironhead

540-000 I bought a pair of these online for half the price. I had to do some modifying. I have an early 84’ and these are a difficult year for any OEM part as you already know. Try “sporty specialties” if Kirk don’t have them he can get them.

  • for staff Clutch intermittingly gets stiff and seems to get hung up

I have an 84’ sportster that there is a growling noise in my primary case. Now my clutch will not release at times. It seems to happen when I get up over 40mph or so the cable stiffens and I pull over to the side of the rode for a minute or so then it is ok again. I do not have the right tools to pull the clutch so I have done every thing else like change the primary chain, put on the M-6 though it shifts smoother now, it still growls and gets hung up when ridden for a while over 40mph. Can that
